SHINee want us all to have a 'Good Evening' with comeback track
SHINee have made their long-awaited comeback as a quartet. They have released ‘The Story of Light EP 1‘ and the title track ‘Good Evening‘.
‘Good Evening‘ is a welcome but bittersweet return for the group (after the loss of vocalist Jonghyun last December). It gives us a chance to hear their effortless and beautiful vocals once again – has anyone else been craving to hear Onew‘s voice – surely not just me?
The song feels as if the group has come almost full circle with the deep house sound that we love from them so much being brought back. The track opens with a classic, synthesised loop and then moves fluidly into the smooth, laid-back verses. The underlying dance beat never lets up and continues throughout the song. One of the highlights of the song is the stunningly beautiful vocal layering of the pre-chorus.
The hook has a 90s club feel to it and sits quite comfortably between a repetition of the pre-chorus and a new refrain, which gives the track a sense of completeness. The production of the track is nothing less than amazing, which is what you would expect from a group like SHINee.
‘Good Evening‘ was written and arranged by The Fliptones with Key and Minho participating in creating the rap.

The new album ‘The Story of Light EP 1’ is the first part of their 6th full album, it contains five songs including title song ‘Good Evening‘, ‘All Day All Night‘, ‘Undercover‘, ‘Jump‘, and ‘You & I‘.
The release of SHINee’s 'The Story of Light EP 1' will be followed by 'The Story of Light EP 2' on June 11, and then 'The Story of Light EP 3' will be released on June 25.
