FTISLAND’s Lee Hong Ki and N.Flying’s Yoo Hwe Seung deliver a powerhouse performance on ‘Still Love You’

FTISLAND's Lee Hong Ki and N.Flying's Yoo Hwe Seung deliver a powerhouse performance on 'Still Love You'

To be completely honest with you, I don’t know where to start with the review of ‘Still Love You‘.  The song is such a powerful track full of raw emotion from my all-time favourite vocalist (Lee Hong Ki) and of my new favourite vocalists (Yoo Hwe Seung).

The song was released by FNC Entertainment as a collaboration track for their new music platform ‘FNC LAB‘.

As I’ve already hinted at above, the FTISLAND singer and N.Flying vocalist deliver a rock-ballad track that is a powerhouse of vocal ability and I don’t think that it could have been delivered by any other two singers.  Both performers come from groups that are known for their rock performances, and they have delivered a heart-wrenching, emotion charged performance that rarely gives you a moment to breathe.

The focus of this song is on the vocal and that’s where it stays.  The production and composition of the song is beautiful and allows the vocals to shine.  The strings and piano that provide the instrumental backing for the song are beautiful but they fade into the background when Hong Ki’s and Hwe Seung‘s voices take centre stage.

Hong Ki’s raw and husky voice is amazing as always, but in a surprise Hwe Seung takes the spotlight and shows that he is a force to be reckoned with.  When he sings the ‘mianhae, mianhe‘ melody of the chorus, he shows us that he can switch between full voice and falsetto with ease.  However, the highlight of the song is his astounding fun of high-notes at the bridge.

The lyrics of the song are about being unable to forget a past love.  The accompanying video clip brings this to life, with the two singers caught in a relationship triangle with the same woman and with all of them seemingly being unable to break free.  The mood and colours used throughout the clip are muted and moody fitting perfectly with the concept.

If this is the standard that FNC LAB will be using for compilations, we can’t wait for more!
